Are you ready for the Ohio State Fair? Be sure to mark your calendars according to the 2019 beef cattle schedule! Don't forget, all Ohio State Fair entries are due June 20, 2019 and cattle may only show one time.
New in 2019 - the Ohio State Fair will offer a Junior Crossbred Heifer Division. The breed champion and reserve will be eligible for the Overall Top 5 Heifers during the final drive on August 4.
The ownership deadline for the crossbred breeding heifers is May 1 and will be verified by their 15 digit, “840” RFID tag number and DNA submission to the Ohio State Fair by May 1, 2019. Crossbred heifers must be born on or after January 1, 2018.
Crossbred breeding heifers will be shown by weight upon check-in during the Ohio State Fair. Heifers will cross the scales and classes will be broken per the beef barn superintendent after the completion of check-in. Cattle without a registration and legible tattoos that correspond to the registration may opt to show as a crossbred. If the animal has illegible tattoos, they may be placed in the crossbred division that will be offered during the 2nd session of the Ohio State Fair. However, there must be a DNA submission per the information above.
