Sneak Peek at Paige Pence - On & Off the Circuit

You'll have to read the Sept-Oct issue of the Show Circuit to get the full story on Paige Pence, but here's a little look at this hard-working, multi-species showman!

Paige Pence is 16 years old and this is her seventh year in 4-H and second year in FFA. She attends Miami East High School and will be a Junior this year. She shows lambs, goats and cattle.

" My favorite show memory would’ve been in 2018 at the North American Livestock Exposition when I was going into the final drive. I’ve been able to listen to judges final speeches before selecting their champion whether I’ve been in the ring, or on the other side of the fence. Glen Martin made a speech about our industry and the exhibitors. It was very heartfelt to me, and being able to hug my parents afterward was even better."

"My favorite animal was Neo in 2017. He was a boer goat wether. He showed twice in his lifetime. A month before the Ohio State Fair we had to take him to the OSU Vet because he had arthritis in his joints. We were afraid he’d never get better or show. He ended up 3rd Overall in the Market Show, and went on to win the American Royal. He was one of the most strongest and most peaceful animals I would’ve ever had. One of the most luckiest things I will have with me every time I show somewhere big is a picture frame. It is a picture of Neo, with ear tags around the frame of past animals I once had. It means the world to me and I would say it’s worked."

"This year, I showed two boer goat wethers at the Ohio State Fair and was Reserve and 5th Overall. In the lamb barn, I had a Hampshire, Southdown, Natural, and a few crossbreds for the Ohio State Fair Lamb Show. I was Champion Overall with my Hampshire and 3rd Overall with my Natural Colored lamb. Lastly, for the Ohio State Fair Beef Show I had a division 3 crossbred steer which will now go to the Miami County Fair."
